This split housing allows it to be taken apart and the components can be replaced when worn or damaged. The face inserts consist of a hard, durable red acetate plastic material and a Medium-hard gray, Non-marring rubber. The faces are held in place by pressure and are not screwed in. This allows for a much greater wear area and longer life. The Simplex hammer can be replaced and modified to use many other face materials for different applications.
