A Guide to Birding with Spotting Scopes
Your Kowa TSN 880/770 spotting scope becomes a powerful telephoto lens with the TSN-PA7 DSLR Digiscoping Adapter. Unlike digiscoping systems that align a camera lens with a scope's eyepiece, the TSN-PA7 employs a T2 ring, so the scope attaches directly to your DSLR, mirrorless, or micro four-thirds camera body instead of a lens. Focus is manually controlled by the rings on the scope.
Using this adapter will enable your camera to harness the scope's full zoom range and provide up to 2570mm of focal length (35mm full frame equivalent) with the TE-11WZ eyepiece and up to 2750mm with the TE-10Z.
To mount the TSN-PA7 adapter, first thread the included collar ring directly onto the body of the scope, then replace the eyepiece. Next, attach the adapter to your camera body with the T2 ring. Finally, slide the camera/adapter assembly over the eyepiece of the scope and tighten the locking screws onto the collar to secure the connection. This configuration allows for quickly attaching and releasing your camera from your spotting scope. In this way, you can easily switch between viewing and photography modes.
Use of the TSN-PA7 requires a TSN-CM2 T2 ring for the appropriate camera body, sold separately.
