Unlike lead or other common fill material, steel shot inside the head of the dead blow hammer flows smoothly without sticking or clumping and won't degrade over time. The all-steel construction is jacketed with a thick, hot cast polyurethane that's highly resistant to chipping, cracking and tearing, but soft enough to avoid marring delicate work surfaces.
